I am a qualified counsellor and have a L4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling awarded by CPCAB, and I also have over 20 years experience in pastoral care. I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework for Good Practice. http//www.bacp.co.uk/.
The issues that I deal with are:
My approach is "integrative" which means that I use various counselling approaches to inform me in my work with you, and will provide a supportive, accepting and empathic space for you to explore your uncomfortable feelings in a non-judgemental way.
I work from a counselling room within Thornton Heath.
I offer one to one, face to face counselling. The first session would be an assessment session, which is a chance for you to meet me and see whether you feel comfortable with me. After this initial session, and if you feel you could work with me, you can decide whether you would like either short-term or longer-term counselling. With short-term counselling we would initially agree up to 6 sessions (we would review this on our 4th session and decide if you would like any further sessions).
Counselling sessions will last for 50 mins and my fee is £35 (this can be paid at the beginning or end of each session). Regular attendance is important to develop consistency in the counselling relationship. If you have to cancel a session, I would ask for 48 hours notice (for late cancellations I charge 50% of the session fee).
To ensure you receive the best possible service from me, I maintain regular professional supervision (which is confidential). I also undergo regular Continual Professional Development throughout the year and I have also been a counsellor at a very busy counselling agency in Kent until December 2011.
